Through Holland’s mixture of awkward adolescence and childhood innocence, Spider-Man: Homecoming separated itself from its predecessors, by not only re-establishing the hero’s origin story, but also turning the classic tale into a delightful teenage romantic-comedy. However, in the follow-up to Homecoming, director Jon Watts made one crucial mistake: he took Spider-Man out of New York City....

With the game’s costs now more than covered, the Cloud Imperium enters the territory of they-must-deliver. Unlike most Kickstarter games, there’s reason to more faith into Roberts and his team since he’s a proven developer and they came out the gate with exciting gameplay footage....

It isn’t just the players of Star Citizen who are set to be all-conquering, either. The crowd-funded title itself has been an absolute smash hit, and all years before a full commercial release. The gaming community was clearly enthralled by the possibility of taking part in outer space dogfights, as the Kickstarter backing for the title has jumped from milestone to milestone. Star Citizen has broken the Guinness World Record for the largest crowd-funded effort ever, and has now flown past an incredible $63 million....

The answer is a little more complicated than in other areas of the franchise. A Star Wars story told in a book has a definitive set of plot points that can be inserted into the existing canon; the open-ended nature of a video game like Battlefront makes it more difficult to establish whether or not it conforms to the lore of the overarching series. According to DICE GM Patrick Bach, that’s what makes the canon status of Battlefront “complicated”....

Return of the Jedi was the final chapter of the Star Wars saga for a while. The epic conclusion for the original trilogy introduced fans to the amorphous crime boss Jabba the Hutt and saw Luke Skywalker finally take on his role as a Jedi Knight, confronting his father Darth Vader. While the film is cherished now, being one of the sacred installments of the beloved original Star Wars trilogy, Return of the Jedi actually received a lot of mixed reviews when it was released in 1983....

Gameplay was shown to press behind closed doors at Celebration, but E3 is set to be the first time that in-game footage will be presented for all to see. It’s been a decade since the last console installment of the series, and fans will no doubt be desperate to see for themselves whether this sequel is shaping up to be a worthy successor. The thirty-second video depicts the ice planet of Hoth torn apart by combat, with debris from ships and other vehicles littered amongst snow drifts. We see things from the perspective of a soldier on the ground, who witnesses a Snowspeeder spiral out of control before the monumental foot of an AT-AT touches down dead ahead. It’s an exciting bit of footage that shows a very different side to the Battle of Hoth to the norm....

Solace Dreams features a school-aged girl as its protagonist, following her as she enters the dreams of friends to save them from the horrors that plague them. Unlike Doom’s run-and-gun style madness, Solace Dreams is a cross between a shooter and a Dark Souls-style game, challenging players to play offense and defense, and to master the game’s systems when tackling boss fights. There are also experience points to be had, a summoning mechanic, and in-game currency to spend....

West last released the controversial song “Eazy” featuring The Game in March 2022, which took aim at his now ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s boyfriend Pete Davidson. In his latest single “Someday We’ll All Be Free,” West once again does not shy away from addressing his controversial comments and their consequences, including his split with Kardashian and his antisemitic views, including a conversation with a conspiracy theorist Alex Jones. In “Someday We’ll All Be Free,” Ye samples the Donny Hathaway hit of the same name....

That’s not necessarily a bad thing, however, as nostalgia can prove to work if done right. Sonic Generations looks to be heading in the right direction, with a new gameplay video showing off two more levels for the 20th anniversary title. The five-minute video shows the Classic and Modern levels for two retro stages from Sonic history: the Chemical Plant Zone from Sonic 2 and City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2....

Now throwing it’s soothing touch into the air is Ubisoft, who have today confirmed South Park: The Stick of Truth is still targeting a 2013 release. First teased at last year’s E3, South Park: The Stick of Truth is developer Obsidian Entertainment’s take on Comedy Central’s popular animated TV series....

A new trailer for the deceptively deep Space Jam: A New Legacy just dropped, and the absolute scope of the LeBron James-led adventure is nothing if not ambitious. Featuring the NBA legend himself playing a high-stakes basketball game with his friends the Looney Tunes (a sentence that would have sounded positively incredible 30 years ago), this is a movie that clearly wants the audience to just accept the absurdity for the sake of entertainment, just like its 1996 predecessor....
