Alabama’s Governor Kay Ivey confirmed the novelist’s death in a tweet on Friday, “Saddened to learn that Alabama has lost one of our most gifted writers. While he will be remembered for creating Forrest Gump, Winston Groom was a talented journalist & noted author of American history. Our hearts & prayers are extended to his family,” Ivey wrote....

However, what Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s unveiling ended up doing was segmenting the fan base, with a large portion of Sam Fisher fans crying foul of the game’s action-heavy inclinations. By all accounts, this gameplay suggested that Splinter Cell had become a third-person shooter with a few stealth elements thrown in for nostalgia’s sake. But Blacklist Director David Footman feels that’s a misnomer, and says that the demo seen at E3 2012 was meant to be an “explosive” piece of tantalizing footage, but not necessarily indicative of the full game....

A collection of 1976 memos (that’s the year, not how many there are, thankfully) from 20th Century Fox have been extracted from the catacombs of obscurity courtesy of documentary filmmaker Charles de Lauzirika, and they display a seldom-seen look at the excitement for the movie from within the company. Written by Peter S. Myers, 20th Century Fox VP of Domestic Distribution at the time, the memos are addictively optimistic about Star Wars, sharing reactions to early cuts of the film and excitedly predicting its inevitable success....
