According to a post over on The Old Republic forums, Electronic Arts is still sticking with their late 2011 release date goal, but are open to the possibility of moving into their early March quarter. Most likely gamers will find out whether or not The Old Republic has been delayed during EA’s next earnings call, which takes place in October.

It has been a tough road to release for The Old Republic fans, especially with BioWare’s commitment not to even talk about releasing the game until they feel confident it is ready to ship. We’ve seen everything from extensive class breakdowns to talk of the beta’s importance, but nothing is as important as playing this game, and it being good.

Of course, BioWare holds that same sentiment, and are actually relying on a specific benchmark to determine whether or not The Old Republic is ready to start talking release dates.

But, if you’re looking to get your hands on The Old Republic as soon as it does have a firm launch, don’t forget that Electronic Arts has created a scaled release that would see those earliest pre-order holders getting their hands on the game first. It’s a sneaky move on the part of EA – to get fans to invest in something when they don’t even know when it will be available – but this is Knights of the Old Republic 3-9 after all.

Do you think that Electronic Arts will announce an early 2012 release date or keep to their Fall 2011 target during their earnings call? How much longer can you wait for this game?

Star Wars: The Old Republic is currently slated to hit before year’s end on the PC.
